The recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES) has been fueling blog speculation about 2010’s electronic trends and devices. Posts featuring e-readers seem to be popping up on many of my favorite blogs. I thought Fast Company’s prophesy that “e-readers are doomed” (DOOMED I SAY!!!) from 2010: The Only Year of the E-Reader may be a bit premature. I agree that e-readers reach a niche market, but with amount of print material available, they probably won’t be going away that soon. As more multifunctional devices become available, it doesn’t mean that they will do everything well. It kind of reminds me of the Spy Kids watch that can do everything except tell time. Sometimes things are so overloaded with gadgets that they don’t serve their original purpose. Anyway, lots of new e-readers are coming, and I’m interested to see is the Kindle will be able to keep up with these new devices.
